The biggest news for the Getaway is the completion of the renovations! And doesn’t the new fence look fabulous? It makes a real difference as people drive into town.
It’s been a whirlwind at the Getaway lately – with hundreds from the Variety Bash stopping by, the Cooper Tires team from across Australia, for their bootcamp and training week …
The Fishing Classic was amazing, once again. There was an Eat Street, an even better layout, big fish weighed in – and numbers were up.

Seriously, if you have not seen the inflatable rescue boat (IRB) Ocean Roar competition, it is reason enough to book now for the weekend of June 1-2.
The rodeo in Rainbow Beach was HUGE last month! The centre block has never been so busy, we were volunteering on the bar for the Surf Lifesavers, and were run off our feet. Plus we had the long weekend with the Hot Rod and Rockabilly Rumble.
So after the family have had a daily sandcastle fix and exploring the rocks and rock pools (they will love the natural bridge) here’s a few more activities at Rainbow Beach:
Never have I seen so many rocks at the beach, in all our 13 plus years of living in Rainbow. Although, the sand will cover them up again with time – it is perfect for rock hopping – the kids will love it! Plus the low tide wallowing in the pools is a must! You can still walk the beach – just walk towards Inskip instead!
Are you short on time – looking for a couple of long lazy days on the beach – or getting the kids away from the school routine and get out for a weekend of adventure?
We are letting you know about these now, so you can plan ahead – and book not only your tickets, but also your apartment. These are sure to be busy weekends on the coast. March 16 Chisel Revived – tribute show at the Tin Can Bay Country Club. Cold Chisel classics followed by Jimmy Barnes favourites, so you can rock the night away.
It’s the month of love! February is a perfect time to visit! One – there’s hardly anyone visiting Rainbow, and two – it is still summer. You can soak up the sunshine and relax on the sand, surf or horseride together or learn on a tour or 4WD or trek in some of Queensland’s most pristine National Parks. If you walk to Poona Lake, it is likely you’ll have it all to yourselves!
